Dr. H.G. Subair graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife with a B. Pharmacy degree in 1990. He joined the Drug Research and Production Unit as a Junior Trainee Fellow in 1999. He received his M.Sc, and Ph.D in Pharmacology in 2004 and 2012 respectively, from the same University. He has published research articles in the journals of International repute. He has supervised many undergraduate, 2 PGD and 2 M.Sc theses. His research interests are in the field of Neuropharmacology and neurobehavioral studies. Currently, Dr. Subair is working on medicinal plants used in the management of sexual dysfunctions; some of which are Bixa orellana leaf, Kigelia africana and Picralima nitida among others. He is also working on the effects of co- administration of herbal drug preparations with generic drugs with the recently published work on “Pharmacoepidemiological Survey and Experimental Study of Co-Administration of Three Herbal Products with Paracetamol”. Some significant contribution of Dr. Subair to knowledge includes: Chloroquine – induced Seizure has been demonstrated to be mediated by both µ – and K- opioid receptors. Metronidazole was demonstrated to possess significant central and peripheral nervous system activities which has been shown to be significantly enhanced by co-administration of chloroquine.
